Up4 The Challenge

Up4 The Challenge is an educational non-profit that began through an initiative supported by Women in Science and Engineering (WISE-Ottawa) to bring greater diversity into the STEM (science technology engineering and mathematics) fields. By highlighting the potential for science and technology to better our communities, my Co-Founders and I strive to increase the diversity of people, perspectives, and ideas in STEM, resulting in more innovative and sustainable solutions to community challenges. Using a human-centred design approach, our mission at Up4 The Challenge is to inspire youth to use STEM to improve people's lives.

We currently run programs for youth in grades 7-10 through schools and community organizations. We have collaborated with Evergreen Brick Works in Toronto and the Parkdale Food Centre in Ottawa. Program themes have ranged from climate change, food security, transportation, to equity, diversity and inclusion and education during Covid.
